Long relationships and sacrifices.

Today is my parents 42nd wedding anniversary. That's an eternity now days. The sanctity of marriage or relationships in general is in the shitter in this generation. My parents literally went thru everything...feast and famine, little or no money, heartbreak, four, opinionated, stubborn, kids, even lived in three different states. They did what they had to do. My dad ALWAYS worked...usually at least 2-3 jobs, but we always ate, even if we had to get free food from a church. But one can assume that when the sun went down at night, they could honestly say that they did it...everything that they could do, and had to do. I don't remember alot of times where my parents went on dates...just the two of them...it was always about us, and working, but some how, and some way...they held it together and survived.
I got alot from my parents..musical influences, advice, freedom to be the person I needed to be, sometimes a good tongue lashing, but maybe what I got the most was....the chance to see and learn that with alot of sacrifices, hard work, devotion, and love....anything is fucking possible in this grand and glorious world.

Growing up Harper....

I came from a big family....I have 2 sisters, and a brother. My parents can attest that things were crazy, sometimes difficult, usually loud, chaotic, fun and always memorable. We grew up in Wisconsin, but also lived in Texas and Oregon. My parents are still married...coming up on their 42nd anniversary. The 4 of us (ok my brother and I) made things.....interesting as kids, pushing limits, bothering our sisters, breaking things, all out craziness most times. But all-in-all we had a good life, with 100's of lessons learned....these are some of those stories and lessons.

Brown Sugar

My brother recently stated something on his Facebook about eating brown sugar for breakfast, here's the story behind that.......
He has always had a sweet tooth, and still does. Well when he was younger, he would get up in the middle of the night, and while we were all still asleep, he would get into the drawer and grab a 1 cup measuring cup. He then would climb on top of the cupboards...walk the length of it to the door that hid the sugars (my mom would put it in the smaller cupboard above the stove, if I remember correctly), he then would get the brown sugar out and pack the cup he had got from earlier (brown sugar is very packy). He then would go back to his original point and climb back down, and eat/lick every grain of sugar from that cup. This was a very common occurrence for him.
This is one of 100's of stories about my siblings I will share. I'm not going to use any names, but most that read this will know who I am referring to.

Harpers

I have tons of memories and stories growing up in my family. This is an outlet for me to tell stories, funny or not. I hope everyone enjoy these stories.
